In celebration of our favourite day of the year (International Podcast Day), we decided to ask everyone on our team why they love podcasting and what they’re currently listening to. Here’s what they said:

Fatima Zaidi, Co-Founder & CEO

Why Do You Love Podcasting?

“Everyone consumes content in different ways. For some people it’s visual, for others it could be written but for me it’s audio. Podcasts have seen explosive growth over the last five years, which has only been magnified by the global pandemic. Podcasts are exceptionally attentive and massive audiences have prompted major multi-million-dollar deals this year alone, with Spotify acquiring Gimlet media for $200 million, and Pandora announcing an exclusive partnership with Serial. There’s no doubt that audio is influential, and it’s here to stay. Podcasting has solidified its place as a major broadcast and entertainment medium. I predict in the next 5-10 years every company will either have their own podcast and be advertising on one.”

Why Do You Love Podcasting?

“I feel like I'm constantly learning something new (whether true or not...) when I'm listening to a podcast. I love the versatility of the medium. While I don't "listen on the go" so much these days, podcasts have helped me stay informed and feel connected throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Stacey Orth, Head of Operations

Why Do You Love Podcasting?

“I love podcasts because they’ve always provided an inclusive space for all different kinds of people to create, tell their stories and share their thoughts. In terms of how we consume media, podcasts are the future as they’re both timely and mobile. Unlike other media, you can consume podcasts anywhere— in your car, on a run or sitting at home.”

Why Do You Love Podcasting?

“I’ve always been drawn to podcasting as a convenient way to consume information. As an entrepreneur, I’m constantly on the hunt for new, relevant stories, but find I have little time to actually engage with them. Podcasting merges those two worlds together. I truly believe it is the future of human communications at a macro scale.”

Alison Osborne, Head of Marketing

Why Do You Love Podcasting?

“Podcasting is a medium honestly unlike any other and it’s really shown us its power over the last few years as it’s completely swept the content marketing space. Podcasts give us a level of convenience that just isn’t achievable for a lot of other mediums and I just love the fact that it’s given so many different voices the ability to be heard.”

Why Do You Love Podcasting?

“Podcasting has become a great medium during the pandemic to simply sit back and chill out. Whether it's listening to spicy sex stories from Call Her Daddy, to listening to Michelle Obama's soothing voice for 45 mins or hearing perspectives from all over the world. Especially during the pandemic, I found that podcasting connects the world. I'm able to find my community and open myself to new stories from across the world.”

Why Do You Love Podcasting?

“I love podcasts because I feel like I’m in my own secret world and it’s just me and the voice of a storyteller. It’s like having an intimate conversation with someone. I can tune in to any type of conversation I want and at any time during my day. To me, that’s invaluable.”
