Black History Month is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate achievements, and recommit to building a future rooted in justice and equity. However, Black history is more than a historical narrative — it is a present-day story, spoken, lived, and shared through various platforms, including podcasts.

Despite the increasing influence of Black Canadian content creators, independent Black Canadian-hosted podcasts and videocasts are often overlooked. There is a lack of data on Black Canadian podcast audiences, with no comprehensive statistics available as of 2025.

Since 2021, Signal Hill Insights has tracked podcast listening trends in the United States through Triton Digital Podcast Metrics, integrating survey and download data to create demographic and psychographic profiles for thousands of podcasts. However, there is no equivalent research focused on Black Canadian listeners.

As the industry waits for accurate representation in podcast analytics, audiences can take the initiative by discovering and supporting Black Canadian creators.

This list highlights a selection of independent Black Canadian podcasts that offer diverse perspectives, meaningful conversations, and engaging storytelling. The goal is not only to showcase excellent content but also to encourage deeper engagement with the voices shaping today's discussions.
