Interviews with successful entrepreneurs, actors, and businesswomen - all of whom have switched careers and are living their Second Life.
As someone who lives and breathes the world of startups and technology, the worlds of fashion and entertainment have always seemed very foreign. What I didn’t realize - and what this podcast showed me - is that there are incredible female entrepreneurs behind so many of the most popular fashion and lifestyle brands, and like most entrepreneurs, they started in a very different place than they are now.
Second Life, hosted by WhoWhatWear’s Hilary Kerr (someone I had never heard of before listening on a friend’s recommendation), interviews celebrities (Mandy Moore, Jessica Alba, Lauren Conrad) and entrepreneurs about their Second Life - their career pivot, and how they got to where they are today. For anyone who’s had a pivot in their own career - or who has no idea what they want to do in 5 years - it’s a great reminder that you can’t always anticipate where your career will go. Also, as a commoner, it’s refreshing to hear celebrities talk about the same challenges we face in our careers - although, let’s be honest, they’re probably wearing much nicer shoes while they talk. This isn’t heavy-hitting journalism, but it’s entertaining, and inspirational for anyone looking to get out of a career rut.
