Dan Savage is a sex advice columnist and author. On this podcast, he answers sex and relationship questions sent in by listeners either by email or voicemail, and where possible, he will call a questioner back to get more detail and expand on the conversation.

Dan Savage grew up as a gay man in a Catholic household in Chicago, lived through the AIDS epidemic, dealt with alcoholism in his family, experienced loss, got married to his husband before it was legal to do so in most US states, adopted a child and has for many years navigated a nearly-but-not-quite monogamous (“monogamish”) relationship. This breadth of life experience, combined with an excellent sense of humour and a keen understanding of the politics of sexuality makes Dan a kind, non-judgemental, nuanced but also no-bullshit advisor.

Over the years, many people have called his show describing their significant other’s behaviour to be met with Dan saying “DTMFA”. Dump the motherfucker already. Sometimes we are all too wrapped up in our relationships to realize what is acceptable, what is fair, what is manipulative and when we, ourselves, are in the wrong. Dan will help you make sense of it all, and he’ll keep you up to date with US politics in his opening gambit while he’s at it, although you can always fast-forward a few minutes and go straight to the questions if that’s what you’re there for.
